Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that People´s Deputies of Ukraine should provide information concerning their tax declarations by themselves.
"It would be fair if the People´s Deputies did not shift their responsibilities on the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat, as it concerns their personal data, which they can provide to the interested persons by themselves," he stated. "Tax declarations of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine should be made public." Otherwise, according to V.Lytvyn, "we should ask People´s Deputies if they do not mind implementing the law on corruption counteraction, which comes into force on being signed by the Head of State."
V.Lytvyn objects to publishing tax declarations in the Holos Ukrainy newspaper, as "the parliamentary newspaper might turn into a bulletin board." V.Lytvyn recommends creating a separate category on the Verkhovna Rada website for publishing tax declarations.
On Tuesday, he is going to discuss this issue with the heads of the factions.
